They’ll Never Guess You Made It!

We are excited to have Eileen Roche, Editor of Designs in Machine Embroidery share this content with you, which was originally posted on Eileen’s Machine Embroidery Blog:

People will never believe you made these clutches on your embroidery machine.  They look like they were purchased in a high-end artsy boutique.  But they were stitched with our polyester matte embroidery thread – 40 wt. and 15 wt. That chunky 15 wt. makes all the stitching look like it was done by hand.  But nope, the secrets in the digitizing!  Just take a look.

There’s the Floral Spray

And the Geometrics.

And possibly my favorite (it’s so hard to choose), the Stacked Loops.

Best of all, they’re on sale this week!  And they come with the thread, instructions and designs to make all three!

This collection is just in time for Easter, Mother’s Day’s and grad gifts.  They are fresh and new and stitch up in no time.  Start it at lunch and wear it to dinner! You can learn more here.

Which one’s your favorite?

Adding Basic Text with Embrilliance

Adding Basic Text with Embrilliance

Embrilliance Essentials is a fabulous embroidery editing software. But just because it is $139 doesn't mean that it isn't packed with powerful tools. You can change colors, resize, merge designs, and add text, just to name a few.

One of the best parts of Embrilliance is that it is very easy to use. This tutorial shows how to add text to an existing embroidery design using Embrilliance Essentials.

';

This is the basic design. I want to personalize it by adding a baby name and year. Start by opening the design in Embrilliance.

To create text, click on the Font icon (the capital A) on the menu tab. That brings up a LETTERS component in the PROPERTIES tab. That automatically places an "ABC" in the design screen. You can then use the text pull-down menu to choose one of the fonts that are installed. You can easily drag and drop purchased BX fonts into Embrilliance to add to the font choices.

Type the text you want into the TEXT box. Adjust the sizing to fit where it is placed. There are other adjustments you can make to the text like spacing of the letters, slant, and arcs (more on those later).

You can change the text itself and the fonts that are used. I chose to place the year in the center of the buggy and opted to use just a monogram on top instead of the full name.

Scripts add a touch of elegance, but fonts should be easy to read. You can see that each text component, the single monogram and the year, each have the same color thread (orchid) but separate color stops (9 and 10).

Choose UTILITY, COLOR SORT, and it combines the two Orchids into one. Save the new file and it adds "sorted" on to the end of the file name. Then, stitch it out!
