School Supply Embroidery Hacks

There are many uses for common school supplies and now is the time to find them at great prices!

Some parents cannot wait but I always hated when school resumed in the fall. The only good part for me was that school supplies are abundant and on sale.

Pencil Grips:

Are great for tightening your hoops. Just cut them to length.

School Glue:

Glue sticks are very useful to hold applique fabrics in place. They also hold pieces in place for in-the-hoop projects. Glue is great for basting or securing edges. As a temporary adhesive, the school version of glue is safe for your machines.

Lanyards:

Lanyards have a variety of uses for embroiderers. They keep scissors within reach and help you keep track of your USB drives.

Snap Bracelets:

These are often seen during the summer months for camps and school kids. They work really well to keep rolled stabilizer secure.

Other Useful Supplies

Binder Clips:

Good for clipping fabric to hoop edges or securing stabilizer ends.

Storage Boxes:

Plastic and cardboard storage boxes help organize supplies. A lot of unique storage items are on the market right now.

Index Cards:

Index cards are great for keeping notes on projects or embroidery tips. Some are bound together and are ideal for adding fabric swatches or thread inventories for reference on shopping trips.

Crayons and Markers:

If you color your embroidery or touch up thread mishaps, markers and crayons are items that are often promoted in special collections this time of year.

Notebooks:

Create your embroidery diary. There are great notebook covers that you can create in the hoop!
