Converting Thread Colors

With names like Madeira, Robison Anton, Isacord, Exquisite, and Sulky, AnntheGran.com is a one-stop thread shop. Did you know they also have a built-in thread converter?

Check out this Merry Christmas design.

If you click on the Colors and Threads link, it shows the thread colors for each color stop in the design. These threads are from the Robison Anton company because that is the color library that the digitizer used when the embroidery design was created.

The drop-down box gives dozens of options for thread color libraries (most of us have threads from multiple manufacturers, right?).

These are some of the equivalent colors suggested for this design's Robison-Anton colors (left) if using the Exquisite thread line (right). It even provides some close options in case you don't have the exact color in stock.

Here is a similar chart for Madeira thread equivalents.

Most of the time, embroiderers will match thread colors for a particular design to their fabric or decor. In cases where you like a design so much that you would like to use the "same" thread colors, thread conversion charts can help.
