Stir Up A Quick Kitchen Accessory!

This adorable ITH project can be stitched up quickly and is perfect for fundraisers or shower gifts.

Pat Williams has a number of top-notch designs listed here and right now, they are 75% off! This project is super easy and makes a very unique gift for hostess or new bride. Just include a gift card to their favorite kitchen store and it couldn’t be easier.

ITH Hanging Spoon Holder is stitched in the freestanding applique technique. Essentially, it is a hanging pocket into which you can hold wooden spoons and spatulas.

The key is using fabric-type water-soluble stabilizer. That gives you clean edges that are finished in satin stitches so there is very little finish work.

The design stiches out a placement stitch to show where your batting goes. After it is tacked down, it is trimmed to the stitch line.

A fabric is added on top (this one is one of Moda’s Grunge) and tacked, trimmed, and quilted.

After the label is stitched, just add a backing and folded piece of fabric for the pocket. It tacks down, you trim it to the stitches and then the satin-stitched edge is stitched.

Trim away excess stabilizer close to the stitching line and wipe the rest away with a wet cloth or sponge.

Add a wire hanger through the stitched eyelets, and a few wooden spoons, and you have an adorable accessory for your own kitchen or cute gift for someone else.
