It is adorable! IT IS A QUILT. Yup. I am totally sure your twin granddaughters love it to pieces. My quilts have been used as "Tummy Time" quilts. You have crossed over into Machine Embroidery and Quilting all at once.

Joan is right, anything made from love and an idea,from your heart, is a quilt! Wonderful Job on this,this is so great! I am sure they just love it and will use it all the time. It is a great way to learn the Alphabet! And the numbers!

So well conceived and produced. You must be so proud.
One never needs to admit that some lines are not perfect. The Hopi Indians intentionally put an error into all their designs. This is a symbol of handmade and human frailties. You are in good company.

In addition to being beautiful, this is an excellent demonstration of how to bring life to your project.
Each block has a wonderful color that "pops" right off the fabric. Watercolors are great, but for real visual impact, give me strong contrast every time.

I love your animal/alphabet blanket;
I made one with a similar idea and because of the size of blanket; I had to leave off a couple of letters; I didn't have the letters in any particular order on the blanket..........the fun part was the people that received the blanket had to keep looking at it and figure out which letters I had left out..........it was a lot of fun.
I've made 145 baby blankets mostly for donations of people in need......this gives me more opportunities to experiment because these people are greatful for the blanket and not as picky....if you know what I mean (things like blocks not matching up etc. etc............it's a wonderful way to keep learning..........keep up the good work, Alice

Thanks so much karyn. I had fun making this and it was a great learning experience (especially since the designs were free at ATG). To keep the project going, I moved my Duetta 4000D upstairs to my dining room table, cut the black material into equal squars and stitched out each design. It worked well having the machine close to my other duties for a few days, so I could change threads readily (even showed my husband how to change threads as a back-up.) Good luck on your projects & have fun!!! Deb

I just got my embroidery machine and am learning to use it making tons of bibs etc for my first grandson. I was planning on an alphabet soft book too,but I like this better! Thanks for the idea! Where did you get the animal alphabet?

Thanks so much. My twin granddaughters still love the blanket and can name a lot of the animals. I got the designs from the free designs at Ann the Gran under alphabets. However, I just checked and did not see the designs there now. I can't remember the designer, but they were free from ATG at one time. Maybe we can check with ATG to see if they're still there, and I just can't find them. Thanks again.

Very nice. I just finished an alphabet book with fabric appliques for letters and objects to match. It was fun, but very time consuming. I have a 6-thread embroidery machine, so could set up embroideries and do other things while they run. Great idea!!
