Pat, Machine mfg do not want compitition, they make that very clear, they want as much for those machines as they can get and refuse to allow prices to be given on new machines online or most any other way then going to your dealer. We used to be able to buy currant machines slightly used for good prices, but Brother stopped that practice big time!

Hmm, I see this has been here awhile and no one has answered. That means we are clueless, LOL. I have the ULT with floppy drive. Using that, I download designs to my computer and from there to the floppy, I don't download directly to the floppy. That way you shouldn't ever loose the designs, especially if you make sure to back them up. On my

I do prewash, and I use the water temp recommended for the fabric, and yes, it's the dryer that shrinks. If you are using say a quilting type fabric, plain cottons ect, you can always spray after washing with spray sizing. It gives it back that new feel and it helps keep the embroidery from puckering too. A little netting on top for those robes

If you are wanting to use the fonts on your computer, yes, Embird will only do a demo. You need to purchase Font Machine while is a plug in for Embird to do that. It's well worth the money, I can tell you. Or you can just purchase certain fonts from embrid and do what you want with those, any size, any words.

There is a fix for those older emb library designs that are so dense, but it requires you have editing software. You just make the design just bit bigger making sure it's set to not add stitches as you do that. Works great.

Excellent advice Pattiann, that should work. May I ask if you washed the fabric before stitching, then spray starch on both sides, and is there a reason you are not hooping the fabric?

I'm wondering if this was the answer that helped. If not, please let me know, I own an 300E also and have never had a problem. Did you delete the designs off the card first, then format in the machine, then reload the designs? You may have to do it that way. When you formatted the machine should have put 2 folders on the card one labeled EmbF5 and

Best bet on that would be to call Brother. Usually yes there is for most of the machine software.
-
I may be wrong, but I'm thinking that format is meant to be put into your machines software or into the machine itself? It's a fill for the software to use when digitizing designs?

Whow, wait a min, I misunderstood. You want to save all your designs to a floppy. You can do that, however, the floppies I have purchased recently are not well made and do not hold up, so please do back up your designs. External HD's are coming down very low in price, and you would only need a small one for designs. That's how I use my laptop
