Very true, and often overlooked when in a panic. I remove the entire needle plate and clean the area around the bobbin case as well after every project, whether it be machine embroidery or machine sewing. Should there ever be a reason for changing the tension of the top thread, do so with the presser foot down.

Welcome to ATG. Shopping for a new machine is always exciting. I find the best way for me is to make a list of what I plan to do with the machine as well as which features are the most important to me. My list includes a friendly, helpful dealer who is patient while I test their stock. If I am not sure about the first dealer, or their products, I move

I believe the item is a bobbin center pin - http://www.amazon.com/Bobbin-Center-Pre-wound-Bobbins-XD0835051/dp/B0038RGGYG I always use this with the prewounds as they are shorter than the bobbin spools that come with my embroidery machine. Brother manuals have a graphic with measurements for using the correct size bobbin.

Learn the machine first. I have read so many post at several Machine Embroidery forums regarding problems new crafters are having with their embroidery machines. Many of these are machines purchased from the Internet, big box store or from a previous owner. Nothing wrong with these options (my first was from a BB store). There just aren't any hands

Why not use both? If one provides more options or is easier for you to use, sell the other one. You can try EBay for selling or purchasing.

Here is one that several people fell for - "The Amazing Stitch Remover"! http://www.thequiltshow.com/os/blog.php/blog_id/5477

Lacework is done with water soluble stabilizer, which will eliminate cutting. I would keep a pair of cuticle scissors at hand just in case. You may want to include a backing of tulle or organza. There are a couple of these techniques in the Blogs sections of this site. Here is another tutorial - http://www.annaboveembroidery.com/lace-technique.html

You can use thread nets or tie off per Deborah Jones' blog. Click on blogs in the directory bar near the top of any screen at ATG. I believe you got your point across. Do you want to edit out the gobbledygook?

Sorry you had a negative experience. The product certainly looks like it would be handy, especially for removing the screws in the needle plate. This is something I do often for a thorough cleaning the bobbin area. I do not have this product as my husband is a "tool happy" kind of guy and when he saw how difficult it is to use the little "screw"
