How well I remember being where you are! There is a great deal to learn, and you are biting off just a little more than most newbies usually do. May I suggest that you do some reading? Your manual for your machine, assuming that you have one, is for the machine and not for embroidery. My first three...

You are so welcome. That is what is great about AnnTheGran, people want to help! I wanted to add one more (among the many) thing. I live in southern California. The humidity here is usually in the 20% range, but today, it is raining, therefore, it is over 30%. While that may not seem like much, water...

Kathy is quite right. However, we need more information for this project. What is it doing? If it is puckering, that indeed is most likely a stabilizer. Did you do a discovery sew? (Test sew out?) Using a similar fabric, I would use a heavier cutaway stabilizer. Cutaway is standard for lettering (as...

Chris in Washington - Since you specifically asked - I personally (as The Avid Embroiderer), and totally recommend and USE AnnTheGran WSS Adhesive Stabilizer. If you are a club member, and it DOES pay for itself, you only pay $16.99 for the big size, a bargain. That stabilizer is among the best I have...

Hi Connie, If I may ask what type of fabric you are using and what type of stabilizer are you using? The main thing to remember is you cannot over stabilize anything. I suggest that you get your feet a little more wet before you try splitting designs. It is something that requires a lot of patience...

If you are new, I recommend that you use the fonts you probably will find on your machine for the time being until you have...

Gee, Mary, I am not a pro either!! I do my input based on my experiences and sometimes on my thought process. For instance, if a fabric might be slipping, I would think that the stabilizer is not doing its job. I have never had fabric 'slip' specifically, but I do think that the answer is in...

Is is a bad idea to wash this stablizer down the drain? How do you despose of it?

Lynn and Pattiann - you are so correct. When I originally wrote the above post, I was at a loss as to how to describe the 'film' type like Badgemaster. And, I was unfamiliar with what you are talking about, Lynn. Pattiann, liquid stabilizer?? I have to give that some thought. When it dries, it...
