We went to the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha Nebraska, I took these pix while we were enjoying the amazing tunnel type aquarium with all kinds of sea life. The zoo was wonderful we had a blast.
I created this Layout with Sara Ellis"s "Jovial Fantasy Kit" The colors were perfect.

At the Henry Doorly Zoo there was a small little park area with beautiful flowers and parrots out in the open with no cages. One of my dasughters would have sat on the branch with the parrot and the other would rather not have had to get this close for the pic. LOL

The Gorilla's @ Henry Doorly Zoo Omaha Nebraska

The Henry Doorly Zoo had so many different enviornments for the gorilla"s. And they have so many Gorillas we actually feed these two some Chex Mix. It"s amazing how Gods creatures are made. There were alot of areas not only to observe their behavior but to read about each individual gorilla. Some of them have names and the information tells about how they all have such different personalities. I think this is one of my favorite exibits. We got to watch these two when we feed them chex mix. One is more submissive than the other. The minute the submissive one got a treat it feel back because the other took control at that time. Just amazing to watch. I thought these pix turned out so amazing that I didn"t do much to them while making this layout. But the colors I chose in Sara"s kit were in my opinon perfect. so I attached a button to two of the pix with a journal tag. And framed the entire page with the wonderful border that was in the kit. I really had fun with the "Zoo" word paper. I put the flower tin one of the o"s to make it look liike it was popping out of the paper, plus since the word looks like paper it was only natural to write the date on it as well.
Thanks to Sara Ellis for this amazing kit I used to make the LO

Simple yet Sweet

I think orgutan"s are one of the coolest monkeys! They have the best sense of adventure. We had our chex mix out again and this is how the monkey reacted. By sticking his arms and legs through the fence and motioning for more with his had open. As the crowd laughed more monkeys tried it but this guy was most successful. He caught almost every piece we threw. I loved this Layouts simplicity. I don"t usually make layouts this simple but really as I was making it and trying to decide which pix would describe the moment this was it. Whoever had the chex mix this monkey would plant himself in this position right in front of the food. Hand wide open and fingers motioning for more. So the layout became simple yet sweet. I was able to use the corners Sara had in her kit to border the corn of the pic and planted a cool flower on top. I added some stiching from the kit to hold the mat behind the picture and the tags in place. The rope frame was perfect as orangutan cages have lots of ropes to play on. And the button to look like it holds the ends of the rope in place around the frame.
The Layout was created with Sara"s Ellis"sWonderul "Zippity Zoo Zah" kit.

Oh the zoo again. Henry Doorly Zoo is unforgetable but just in case we have a ton of scrapbook pages to help us remember it. This layout is pix of the butterfly house. It was amazing. We had so much fun and it was beautiful.

The Deserty Enviornment

At the zoo they had this huge dome shaped builing and when you enter it you find they have created a Desert Enviroment. There are critters running loose throughout the desert. Lizzards, bugs, and more. They have bulit canyons, with sand dunes and streams. The sun comes through the domes creating a warm enviorment and then the canyons show the shade and caverns where other animals live to stay out of the heat. It was totally amazing and one of the best places at the zoo to take pix. I don"t have a lot of Layouts with me and my hubby so I used this photo with the etchings on the cave wall behind us to show how much time they really put into this Deserty Environment. I"m telling you if you haven"t gone to this zoo it"s worth it. I actually used two different background papers in this Layout to come up with the color I desired. I just changed the opacity of the top layer. Then I blended som of the stamped element near the top of the page. Again using one of my favorite flowers from Sara"s kit I duplicated it to make shadowed border to place above the photo. And I love words going across less impotant part of my pix. On this page I like to center the pix but didn"t want to add tags for journaling so I just added some text over the top of the pic.

First Snow of 2008

My kids begged me all day to get out in the
snow. I have to admit I wasn"t prepared as a mom for snow yet. One kid
still had no gloves. So he wore socks on his hands. After snapping the
amazing fun adventures of the first snow of the season, I remembered
the awesome kit that Sara recently created that would be perfect for
the pix. As I scraped them I remembered just how much fun it is to be a
child and how no matter how cold it is we would find a way to make the
fresh white coating of snow fun!!! And then come in and almost cry
because we somehow forgot to notice how cold we were until we stepped
inside the warm house. My son experienced this as he wore the socks on
his hands. I met him at the door, only to find his hands pink and his
eyes watering! But still wanting to go right back out once dry and warm
again! You"ve got to love childhood! Thanks for looking.
