Chickadee Tote Bag for my Mom's 85th Birthday

My mother who just turned 85 (a very young 85), flew out to VA from AL for a visit. She has sewn for as long as she can remember, her mother had a treadle sewing machine that she learned on. Mom has an embroidery machine but it isn"t like my Babylock Ellegante. Well, she fell in love with the machine and we had such fun making the Chickadee Tote Bag. The tote was made with prequilted fabric and lined with a beautiful pink cotton fabric that had flowers growing all over it. This picture just doesn"t do it justice!!! Marcella is my Moms name (AnnTheGran Alphabet Xpress) and we put that under the little Chickadees sitting on the branch with all the vines and flowers. We also made one of the Scrumptious Sweatshirts and we lined it!!! I got a great lesson from Mom on how to make my own bias tape, it really made the Sweat shirt jacket so very nice. We love the Chickadees so much that we embroidered 5 more on the other side with the caption "My little Chickadees" (they are just soooooooooooooo cute!!!!!!!!)

Wow Did I have FUN at the Community Circle 2008!! This is my first design (cute cow) that I digitized into an embroidery design and what better way to show it off than to Celebrate the Community Circle 2008 Tote Bags and have this cute cow on my Tote Bag.
"Wow, You made that"? Yes, I sure did : )

How cute. What a great thing being able to sew with your mom. Do you have a pic of the sweatshirt jacket?

OMG my mother would love that too, she has been a sewer all her life , she is the one that inspired me to learn, she bought me a toy "Singer" machine way back in the 50's and I still have it, now I have a Husqvarna Designer 1 , and love it... my mother , age 87 , but she thinks she is in her early 60's! loved one of the quilts I made. so for her birthday , I made her a victorian quilt, Now for Christmas, I think something with the chickadees would be wonderful,,, so I will put on my thinking cap. and thanks for the inspiration, Marie

I love this one! The whole thing is great and so fun.
I do wish I could sew one more time with my mother, but I know she is laughing with me as I do some fun things on my machine.
More photos and more great stories, please!

I moved from Phoenix to San Diego to be more close to my grandchildren. (OK, the heat too!)
One thing I wanted out of my move was the everyday activities. I always came to SD for holidays and birthdays, but I really wanted to be here for the evenings of pizza and laughter. I wanted to be here for the 'every day' days. Those have wonderful stories too.
