After realizing that the picture hanging in my kitchen is of a lily and not a poppy (Thanks Joan!) I did a towel and dishcloth with a lily design. Sandy

Here"s my first attempt with variegated thread. I combined two designs, both light and airy looking, as per the suggestions I got on the forums. I think it looks great except for the placement problems I am still having. But, hey, I"m new!! Sandy

The towel looks just perfect! I love your choice of colors. It does not look too dense in this photo. Do you have software with your embroidery machine? Maybe you could take some of the density out? Looks like a winner to me! I love poppies!

Hello.
Well, personally, I think the poppy design looks very nice on the towel. Since you felt it was "too hard", it might be a very nice accent piece, deco item. There are a lot of stitches in that design.
The photo on the left looks to be a Tiger Lily. AnnTheGran has a very nice Tiger Lily design. Not many stitches either.

I agree with AL!!
The towel next to your wallpaper is excellent and I do love the off mustard to set it all off. It softens the reds so very well.
Your choice of everything is very nice.

Well, thanks for the compliments!!! Joan, you know I believe you are correct, and that is a lily rather than a poppy. I just had it in my head - poppy - and it became a poppy to me. Silly me, ok, now off to find a tiger lily design.

That is amazing I wish I could get just half as good as you.(Pretty sappy sorry) I wish we had a place here that we could help us more instead of looking at us like I can't believe that's all you can do.

I'm sorry I really do not want to hurt any feelings or anybody getting upset with me. It is just my opinion but, I think that the yellow flower is really looking like a smaller sunflower plant.

Fantastic Sandy! It is perfect. Sorry if I burst your bubble about the Poppy design. I love Poppies too. But the Lily is a perfect, perfect match. Great job.
But, ya know, your Poppy design would work too. I sometimes use the decorative towels folded on the kitchen table and say a pitcher of flowers on top; just as an added decorative item.

Joan, no worries about that poppy towel, it's hanging in the kitchen too. I wondered if washing it again and again would soften it up more. Anyway, thanks for the comments!! Sandy

Sandy,
You did a great job with the varigated thread - stepped out of the box did ya? Good for you! Placement issues come in time. You may even wish to check into the placement tools available on ATG in time. They do help. BUT, I was impressed that there was no puckering. You are well on your way!

I wouldn't even have noticed the placement issue if you hadn't pointed it out!
