  • Large embroidery hoop
  • Built in design –floral motif
  • Coordinating embroidery thread to compliment fabric
  • Tear away stabilizer

  • Spray adhesive
  • Seam ripper

Instructions:

Creating the Monogram Motif

1.    Attach the embroidery arm on your machine
2.    Turn on the machine and select the built in motif you wish to use. I chose a floral motif from the built in designs which came with the machine.
3.    The motif will appear on a slant when it is displayed on the screen of your machine.
4.    After you have pulled the motif up onto the screen, press “set”. We will arrange the design to fit on the corner of the spa wrap.
5.    Press  “rotate”, press   symbol to rotate the design to the left. Touching the symbol four times will position the design horizontally on the display screen.
6.    Press “close”, press “edit end”.
7.    Press once again, the location of the motif you have chosen. Select the design, duplicating the first motif.
8.    Press “set”.
9.    Press “rotate”.
10.    Press   right symbol twice to position the design vertically.
11.    Press   right symbol four times, then press   right symbol 6 times to compete the rotation of the second motif.
12.  To complete the L shape design, press the   or  symbols to move the motif into position.
13.  Press “close”, press “edit end”, press “sewing”.
14.  Press the center dot to position the design in the center.
15.  Press “return”.
16. Choose a letter from the built in alphabets in the machine to monogram the towel wrap. Press “set”.
17. Using the positioning symbol keys, move the monogram letter up or  down to center the initial within the corner of the design.
18. Press “close”, press “edit end”, press “sewing”.

Please note: It is always a good idea to do a sample of the built in design before embroidering on your project. These samples can be used as a template to insure accurate placement for the embroidery.

Embroidering the towel wrap

1.    Use a water soluble marking pen to mark the placement of the design. Position the design approximately 3 ½” from the side and bottom of the towel wrap corner.
2.    Cut tear away stabilizer 1” larger then the hoop used.
3.    Hoop the stabilizer.
4.    Lightly spray the stabilizer with spray adhesive.
5.    Place the corner of the towel wrap into position on the stabilizer.
6.    Cut water soluble stabilizer large enough to cover the design.
7.    Lightly mist the towel wrap with spray adhesive. Place the stabilizer on top of the fabric to be embroidered.
8.    Install the hoop onto the machine. Embroider as usual.
9.    When completely finished with the embroidery, remove the hoop from the machine.
10. Remove the tear away stabilizer from the back of the fabric and cut the excess water soluble stabilizer from the front of the fabric. Remove as much as possible from the front.
11. Fill the sink with water and remove the remaining stabilizer by dipping the corner of the towel wrap into the sink.
12. Remove from the sink, gently wring out the excess water and set aside to dry.

Embroidering the headband

1.    Follow the above “Creating the Monogram Motif” instructions, steps 1 thru 6 to position the motif horizontally.
2.    Continue to follow “Creating the Monogram Motif” instructions, steps 15 thru 18 to complete the headband design. Center the design in the screen.
3.    Cut and hoop the tear away stabilizer as before. Spray with adhesive.
4.    Center the headband in the hoop. Reposition if necessary.
5.    Cut water soluble stabilizer to cover the design area. Spray lightly with adhesive and place on top of the fabric to be embroidered.
6.    Install the hoop and embroider as usual.
7.    Follow steps 9 thru 12 in “Embroidering the towel wrap” to complete the headband.

Embroidering the washcloth mitt

1.    Delete the initial from the headband motif to use just the floral design on the washcloth mitt or leave the letter if you desire.
2.    Use a water soluble marking pen and mark the placement of the floral motif on the mitt. Make the center mark approximately 1 ¾” to 2” up from the bottom of the mitt.
3.    Use the seam ripper to open seam at the bottom of the mitt (where the embroidery will be) to three quarters of the way up both sides of the mitt. Note: You do not have to open the entire mitt to embroider the bottom. Just open far enough so that the fabric will lie flat on the stabilizer.
4.    Follow steps 3 thru 7 in “Embroidering the headband” to complete your spa ensemble.

Thanks: 2 timesWas thanked: 1 time(s) in 1 post(s)

This outfit is really smart and chic.

This is an excellent tutorial for how to use the rotation feature on a machine.

Rotating can be really challenging so test sew outs are really important.
