Getting your children or grandchildren ready for back to school with a new favorite backpack has never been easier! Add their favorite Disney Cars design to a backpack or T-shirt for a personalized touch.  See the below image and directions for a backpack embroidered with Cars characters from the popular Disney/Pixar film!:

·         Purchased Back Pack

·         Decorative buttons of choice

·         4- 8” X 9”pieces of different solid fabrics to coordinate with the pack back

·         4- 8” X 9” pieces of tear away stabilizers

·         4- 5” X 5” pieces of fabric for lining of car squares

·         Sewing thread to match fabrics

Instructions:

1.      Hoop a piece of solid fabric with the tear away stabilizer.

2.      Embroider the car of choice.

3.      Embroider 3 more cars the same way.

4.      Remove the stabilizer and trim the embroidered squares to 5” X 5”.

5.      Place the embroidered squares right sides together with the 5” X 5” lining fabric.

6.      Stitch around the squares using a ½” seam. Leave a small opening for turning.

7.      Trim the corners then, turn the squares to the right side.

8.      Press the squares and top stitch1/4” from all sides.

What a cool project!

I especially like the idea of using buttons to sew the 'patches' to the backpack, what a great idea.  You could use bows too!!  You don't have to figure out how to attach it!
